Leah Wewoda

Leah Wewoda was born in 1998 in the Heilbronn district. She is currently studying contemporary puppetry at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin and as a guest student in Charleville-Mézières, France, at the École Supérieure Nationale des Arts de la Marionnette.
In her work, it is her concern to let elements of the French and German theatre worlds flow together. She is interested in the encounter of different genres, as this is where the potential of artistic stage creation lies. She was particularly influenced by her collaboration with Claire Heggen, founder of the company Théâtre du mouvement, which combines movement with means from the visual and performing arts.
Through her collaboration at the International Shadow Theatre Festival Schwäbisch Gmünd in 2022, she was able to gain versatile insights into the world of shadow play through the attending companies, which flow into the production »The Tobacconist« (Direction: Marcel Kohler) at the Theater Heidelberg.
