Anne Buffetrille

Anne Buffetrille, born in St Germain en Laye (France), studied German language and literature in Paris. She then worked as a freelance director and permanent assistant set designer at various theatres in Germany. From 2002, she began working as a stage and costume designer in Constance, Linz and Salzburg. From 2004 to 2005, she was an assistant to the French fashion designer Barbara Loison in Paris, where she worked for Jean-Paul Gaultier, Sonia Rykiel and the photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino, among others. In addition to opera, ballet and short films, she has increasingly worked as a costume designer for theatre in recent years, including at the Burgtheater Wien, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Schauspiel Hannover, Staatstheater Nürnberg and Theater Basel, Theaterhaus Jena under the direction of Nils Strunk, Tilo Nest, Ulrike Arnold, Tomas Schweigen, Markus Heinzelmann, Lars Ole Walburg, Jan Philipp Gloger, Marco Štorman, Uwe-Eric Laufenberg, Jan Philipp Gloger, Ulrike Arnold and Markus Steinwender, among others. She has worked regularly with director Tomas Schweigen since 2011 and was part of the artistic team at the Schauspielhaus Wien from 2015 to 2022. She has also been giving workshops for Mode et Stylisme at the IMAD art academy in Caen since 2013. Anne Buffetrille has worked regularly with Ronny Jakubaschk since 2019 at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Schauspiel Hannover and Thalia Theater Halle, among others - in the 2024/25 season, she will design the costumes for his production of »Tod eines Handlungsreisenden« at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.
