Johannes Zimmermann is a conductor, pianist and theatre musician. Permanent engagements in the field of music theatre have taken him to Darmstadt and most recently to Heidelberg, where he was engaged as director of studies and conductor from 2017 to 2023. The list of works he has conducted and rehearsed includes baroque music, the core classical-romantic repertoire as well as contemporary music and numerous world premieres. In Heidelberg, he has conducted »Rusalka«, »Die Zauberflöte«, »Don Pasquale« and many more. At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, he was responsible for the musical direction of the scenic song recitals »Der Mond braust durch das Neckartal« and »Die Zeit fährt Auto«, among others. Johannes Zimmermann was born in Stuttgart and studied at the music academies in his native city, in Hamburg and in Riga (Latvia).
