Monika Wiedemer

Monika Wiedemer was born in Lisbon. She studied musicology at the FU Berlin and acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. Her first permanent engagement was at the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg from 2006 to 2010. There she appeared on stage as Antigone (Sophocles), Maria (Shakespeare, »Twelfth Night, or What You Will«) and Stella (Tennessee Williams, »A Streetcar Named Desire«), among others. In Heidelberg, she also created the musical solo »Nina Hagen. Punk rocks Schlager«. She has been working freelance at numerous theatres since 2010. These include the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Theater Aachen, Stadttheater Konstanz, Konzert und Theater St. Gallen, TAK in Liechtenstein, Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen, Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart and Theater Rampe in Stuttgart. As part of the artist collectives »Bureau«, »Hardt Attacks« and »Freie Filiale«, she has realised her own (partly musical) productions at various theatres. These include the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Theater unterm Dach and the Sophiensäle Berlin, the Garage X Vienna and the Loft in Leipzig. Since 2016, she has held teaching positions at various universities such as the ADK Ludwigsburg, the HMDK Stuttgart, the Folkwang University Bochum and the University of Music in Karlsruhe. As a presenter, she has performed at the Friedrichstadtpalast Berlin with the »RSO - Rock Symphony Night«, in Ötigheim with the »Gala Night of Film Music« and in Berlin's Haus des Rundfunks with the »New Year's Concert of Film Music«.
