Stefan Rieckhoff

The stage and costume designer Stefan Rieckhoff is from Oldenburg and completed his studies at the Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Professor Karl Kneidl. His collaboration with Wilfried Minks and Wolfgang Gussmann took him to Berlin, Stuttgart, Vienna, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Venice, among other places. He has worked as a stage and costume designer at theatres in Bern, Heidelberg, Krefeld, Freiburg, Halle, Saarbrücken and Luxembourg as well as at the Berliner Ensemble, the National Theatre in Prague, the Bonn Opera, the Vienna Volksoper, the Graz Opera, the Basel Theatre and the Bregenz Festival.
At Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, he was responsible for the sets of »Coro fantastico« and »Der Mann, der seine Frau mit einem Hut verwechselte«.
In 2004 and 2008, he was nominated stage designer of the year by the magazines »Opernwelt« and »Die Deutsche Bühne«. In 2006, he was also awarded the theatre prize of the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung.
DVD recordings of the operas »Tristan und Isolde« and »Hänsel und Gretel«, which he designed, have been released by Arthaus Musik.
Future work will take him to the Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck.
